Two Girls and a Cupcake in Utica

My husband and I have tried all different times of the day to catch this place open for the past 5 years. Yesterday they claimed to be open, but the doors were locked and there were men working on the shop so I know there were workers inside. After reading all these reviews I would count it a blessing in disguise though and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this place was a joke.

My husband and I came in on our way back from our weekend getaway to try a couple cupcakes. The lady that served us made it seem like we'd regret only getting one cupcake each...and she was not wrong! I wish I got more. Some of the best cupcakes I've had. Not overly sweet, very creative, and very flavorful. Don't worry, I'll be back, and I'll buy more!

my mom & i are staying at starved rock & decided to stop by. their hours online say they open at 10. we had literally parked & pulled up & the supposed owner drives up in her truck 30 minutes late & stares at us. a couple seconds later, she sticks her head out it her window & rudely yells at us that we need to move because she has to get in. no hello and never once told us that the shop was closed or asked what we needed. my mom is completely shocked as a business owner herself that someone would act that way. she definitely needs to brush up on her customer service skills! 0/10

The cupcakes were delicious. The service was excellent. I'm going back tomorrow before I leave town and I'm getting more.

Went to the Cupcake shop for the second time SUNDAY 9/15/19 at 2pm ... against my better judgement from 1st visit ... the lady working was a RUDE sales associate AGAIN because we only wanted 1 cupcake!! Really? Don't know how you STAY in business with someone working with that attitude ... funny but sad thing is a Red SUV sitting next to us in the parking lot with windows down were talking about how they were passing on the Cupcake place because of terrible service from prior visit. Your cupcake was just OKAY and was not worth $3.50 for as small as it was ... no thanks we won't be back

The cupcakes are very stale and not worth the 3$ If you can tell by the other reviews the place is unsanitary. The cherry on top of the whole establishment is the owner, after we bought our cupcakes we watched as she proceeded to yell at customers in the store. She called them socialists (doesn't have any bearing in a professional setting) and said that she liked trump because "he was a bully and so am I" regardless of political views this is no way to conduct a business and is extremely unprecedented. Believe the bad reviews.

The cupcakes are amazing. Definitely worth the prices. Highly recommend the Cookie dough ! So glad we stopped to try every cupcake. The only recommendation I have is a bigger facility for how busy they are!

I'm so surprised by these reviews, my husband and I stopped by last weekend after Starved Rock, and we thought the cupcakes were delicious. We got an assortment of six. Our favorites were the cookie dough, boston cream pie, and chocolate silk pie. The frosting was amazing and not too sweet. Easily some of the best cupcakes I've tasted from a bakery. Good thing it's far away from my home or I would be fat from their cupcakes.

My boyfriend and I stopped in before our hike and I have to say, the cupcakes were amazing!! He got the White Chocolate Vanilla Bean and I got the Chocolate Silk. Holy. Cow. They were amazing!! Definitely worth 3.50 a cupcake.

Spoke with the owner when my best friend and I went to starved rock for the day. She was sweet and friendly! The chocolate chip cookie dough was my favorite and the French silk was my friends favorite! You really can’t go wrong with any of the flavors.

My sister and I went there in Saturday. Cupcakes were fantastic. The older woman waiting in us was not, however. She needs to be wearing gloves.

The Sundae Crunch was easily one of the best cupcakes I've ever had...hoping they will have a big Yeti cupcake to match the statue outside. Will come again!

You could smell the fresh batch as soon as you walked up to the place. Amazing pasties and cakes! Highly recommend it!

My wife and I stopped through coming back from home from Wisconsin and had to stop. Got 6 cupcakes for 3 flavors wished we got more. They are a little pricey but you're getting what you pay for would recommend getting at least 12.

I took my son here to get cupcakes for his birthday and the 2 girls were very kind and I had 4 kids with me picking out cupcakes and the older gal was very patient and kind. We will definitely make the hr drive up again... hopefully soon!!!

After our visit to Starved Rock we stopped for some ice cream which was great, a few doors down I saw a store homemade cupcakes. When I opened the door with ice cream in hand the woman behind the counter said " you can't come in here, NO no ice cream allowed!" That's NOT how you talk to a perspective customer who wanted to take a dozen home.

Lucked out and stopped in on a slow day and a full case. A bit pricey but everyone loved their cupcakes! Definitely worth the stop 😀

This place is a treat of treats. I still don't understand why they don't sell milk to go with the awesome cupcakes. The cupcakes are beyond awesome. New flavors Everytime I come. Keep trying new and haven't found one yet that I didn't like. Very fun shop to go in too. A pink Bigfoot and other fun stuff. Don't miss but bring some milk.

Giving this a 3 as I have never tried their cupcakes. My husband and I were on vacation and traveling back home and we happened to see a sign for this place. My husband knows I love cupcakes so he decided to stop so I could try it out. It was just past two and there was a sign saying closed sold out. Disappointed I was not able to try these. Got online to try to find hours and realized they were only open till 3 which probably accounts for why they were sold out at just after 2. To say the least I was very disappointed with the hours as most people are still at work during the hours they are open. How are people who have jobs supposed to stop in for a cupcake when they're only open for not even 5 hours. Anyway this was my experience. Disappointed and probably wont stop in again if we're ever on vacation out this way again.

Let me start off by saying i haven't eaten the cupcakes yet. As far as service, she was very cordial. She did mention the bad reviews, which was weird but otherwise, wasn't rude. I'll make another post about the taste of the cupcakes, but will post pics now.

Cupcakes were stale.Very small.Frosting was dry on top..Cost over 7.00 for two.

I will say, the cupcakes were good, but the customer service was not. The owner claimed that I hadn’t contributed to the workforce at all because my dad offered to buy me a cupcake. I have been working for four years and I’m 17. I nicely explained to her that I work at McDonalds to save up for college. She claimed that working at McDonald’s wasn’t a real job. She called over her other staff to continue to make fun of me for my work position. I normally don’t leave reviews, but this experience seemed too out of the ordinary. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.
